COLLECTION WELLSPRING BY GIULIA REBECCHI
In ancient Greece, the name Pegasus was applied to all rivers, as fast and flowing as its course, and the observation of natural forces, including water, lightning and animals, is cited as the origin of its myth. Of divine nature, Pegasus is the winged horse that came to life from Medusa and Poseidon, itself associated with the epithet hippio, “equestrian”, with which it shares its unpredictability. In addition to pulling Zeus to Olympus, it was ridden to free Andromeda, defeat the Chimera and fight the Amazons.
However, the winged horse takes on different connotations and representations depending on the culture and in Astronomy it is among the oldest and most observed constellations of the northern sky. The vitality and strength of the horse, combined with the ability to fly and free itself from the weight of gravity, make Pegasus a symbol of spiritual life, of those who rise indomitable, regardless of any earthly obstacle.
