Preparing for a new Academic Year: Tips for our students.

A new academic year is about to begin with the enthusiasm that always characterizes new beginnings and the desire to increasingly improve one’s creative and professional skills.
That’s why the Burgo Fashion Institute has created this small vademecum to best approach this new year in the most productive way possible.

1. Organization and Planning
One of the first steps to prepare is to get organized. Get a diary or digital planner where you can write down your commitments, exam deadlines and projects. Creating a weekly calendar will help you visualize your commitments and distribute your workload evenly. Drawing boards, collection timing, and tailoring practices should be well spread out over the week so that you can do the exercises in the right way and find yourself prepared for the exams. Your teachers will always be available to help you with this as well. Don’t forget to also include free time and extracurricular activities, which are essential for your mental and physical well-being.

2. Review of Previous Material
Before tackling new topics, it is helpful to do a little review of the material studied in previous years. This will help you strengthen your foundation and be ready for new challenges. If there are concepts that are not clear to you, spend some time filling in these gaps or write down your doubts to expose them to teachers.

3. Purchase of Materials
Make sure you have all the materials you will need, such as pantones, crayons, notebooks, tailoring materials and digital tools. If necessary, consult course syllabi, ask the front desks office or your teachers to find out what books or resources will be needed and purchase them in advance. Also consider swapping books or purchasing materials from other students to save money.

4. Time Management
Time management is an essential skill. Establishing priorities is critical not to fall behind. Use techniques such as the tomato technique, which involves periods of intensive study alternating with short breaks, to keep your concentration high. Avoid multitasking and focus on one thing at a time to be more efficient.

5. Physical and Mental Well-Being
Good physical and mental health is crucial to facing the academic year with energy. Maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly and get enough sleep. Managing stress is equally important: consider practices such as meditation to relax. Do not hesitate to ask for help if you feel the workload is too much or if you feel overwhelmed.

6. Set Realistic Goals
Set clear and realistic goals for the year. These can relate to both academic performance and personal improvement, such as developing new skills or participating in more activities. Review your goals periodically and make adjustments if necessary.

7. Management of Financial Resources
Managing your finances well is essential, especially if you live far from home. Create a budget to keep expenses under control and look for ways to save money, such as cooking at home instead of eating out. If possible, consider getting a part-time job to have some financial independence.

These are some essential tips for getting started on the new academic path. With a good plan, careful time management and a focus on personal well-being, you can face the year with confidence and success. Remember that every year is an opportunity to grow, learn and improve.

Have a great start!
